About Ochre Red Studios
What I do.
I set up Ochre Red Studios in 2012 specialising in Pre-School Portrait Photography, which has extended from nurseries into playgroups, schools, families, Rainbows/Brownies, high-school proms, and school prospectus photography. I have a natural flair for interacting with children, extracting their character and capturing it as fantastic imagery for you to display around your home.
How I do it.
Over the last 10 years I have developed a style of photography that parents have come to love and adore. It is simple un-contrived portrait photography, capturing the essence of children and families through funky photo sessions. I don't dance about like a loon - quite simply getting on a child's level by interacting with them, breaking down barriers and building up rapports.Currently I work with a large and growing number of institutions which include:
- Nurseries/playgroups
- Infant/Primary/Junior schools
- Middle/High school comprehensive schools
- Rainbows/Brownies/Beavers/Cub Scouts
- FE Colleges
All of the institutions that I work with have enjoyed my style of photography for many years previous, some who have continued booking photo sessions since the start over 10 years ago. This fact runs with some of our families who's children have been photographed as young babies, and who I continue to photograph as they go through their respective schools and into young adulthood. Why do I get so many repeat bookings? I enjoy what I do and love what I create. More over, I'm very passionate about my work - relishing challenges from new commissions and always look to push the boundaries of conventional photography.
What else?
I create artwork with analogue cameras and with a variety of digital platforms. Over the last 20 years I've built up a small body of work of photo collages. Some examples can be seen on the Creative page.I also create some exciting images based around VW bugs and vans as well as coastal themes. These are all styled with full-frame edges and printed on some exquisite papers. The Fuji Flex is phenominal in it's tonal range and brilliance.
I've started to sell these artworks at shows, country fairs and festivals. You may see me at the likes of Bug Jam, Car Fest, Glastonbury and various country fairs around the East Midlands. Come say hello and have a look at the work. All works are ordered at the show, printed during the following week and posted direct to you.
These are 2 of my favourite images. The VW van was taken at Bug Jam in 2009 and has been converted into several colours to suit most people's colour schemes at home. The image of Palace Pier in Brighton was taken on my iPhone! It was adjusted in one of the various phone apps and then re-sized for print. They both look incredible on the Fuji Flex paper.
